📰 77 Foreigners Among 1500 Runners Participate in 2nd Edition of Kashmir Marathon
Srinagar, November 2, 2025:
The scenic city of Srinagar came alive on Sunday morning as over 1,500 runners, including 77 foreign athletes, participated in the 2nd Edition of the Kashmir Marathon 2025. The event, which featured both Full Marathon (42 km) and Half Marathon (21 km) categories, drew participants from across India and abroad, making it one of the region’s biggest international sporting events.
Organized under the banner of Run for Peace and Harmony, the marathon aimed to promote sports tourism and highlight the natural beauty and peaceful environment of Jammu and Kashmir. The race began at the picturesque Boulevard Road near Dal Lake, offering participants breathtaking views of the Zabarwan mountain range.
According to the organizers, this year’s edition saw an impressive international participation from athletes representing countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Nepal, and the United Kingdom. Among them were several professional long-distance runners who praised the unique altitude and challenging terrain of Kashmir.

The event carried a total prize pool of ₹25 lakh, with attractive cash rewards for winners in different categories. The marathon concluded peacefully amid cheers from enthusiastic locals who lined up along the route to encourage the runners.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the organizers expressed gratitude to the district administration, J&K Police, and volunteers for ensuring smooth conduct and safety arrangements. They added that the success of the second edition has set the stage for making the Kashmir Marathon an annual international event that attracts more global participation in the coming years.
