Kathua, Nov 13: In a major action under its ongoing war against drugs, Kathua Police recovered approximately 16.35 grams of heroin (chitta) from the Changran area and arrested one drug peddler.
The operation was conducted on November 12 after police received a specific input regarding narcotics smuggling. A team led by SHO Kathua Insp. Sandeep Chib, assisted by PSI Ishrat Manhas, and working under the supervision of Addl. SP Kathua Rahul Charak (JKPS) and DySP Headquarters Kathua Ravinder Singh, set up a special naka in the Changran area.
During the checking, police apprehended Mohd Shabbir, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Changran, Kathua, and recovered 16.35 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. The contraband was seized on the spot, and the accused was taken into custody.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 553/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act at PS Kathua, and further investigation is underway.
Kathua Police has once again appealed to the public to share information about drug-related activities, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
