Union Finance Minister Launches Nationwide Financial Awareness Campaign “Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar” in Gandhinagar
Gandhinagar, October 4, 2025:
Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman today launched a nationwide financial awareness campaign titled “आपकी पूँजी, आपका अधिकार” (Your Capital, Your Right) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The campaign is aimed at spreading awareness about unclaimed deposits and ensuring that citizens can rightfully access their financial assets.

Speaking at the launch, the Finance Minister emphasized that unclaimed deposits are “not mere entries on paper; they represent the hard-earned savings of ordinary families.” She underlined the Government’s commitment to safeguard public wealth and ensure that such deposits reach the rightful beneficiaries.

Outlining the guiding principles of the campaign, Smt. Sitharaman highlighted the “3As Strategy – Awareness, Accessibility and Action”, stressing that financial literacy, easy access, and prompt redressal will form the foundation of this drive.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, in a message, lauded the initiative as a collective effort to strengthen public trust, dignity, and empowerment. He expressed confidence that this campaign will help citizens reclaim what is rightfully theirs.

State Finance Minister of Gujarat, Shri Kanubhai Desai, also addressed the gathering and remarked that unclaimed deposits could be effectively used for education, empowerment, and other essential financial needs once they are returned to the rightful owners.

Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) noted that “claims must be processed quickly and fairly to citizens, so that they walk away with clarity and confidence.”

The campaign will be conducted across all districts in States and Union Territories from October to December 2025. Citizens will be assisted through digital demonstrations, awareness sessions, and helpdesks to trace and claim their unclaimed financial assets.

With this drive, the Government aims not only to strengthen financial inclusion but also to reinforce the message that citizens’ savings are secure, accessible, and protected.
