Udhampur, October 17:
Continuing its drive against drug peddling, Udhampur Police achieved another success by arresting two drug peddlers in separate cases and recovering heroin from their possession in the Majalta area.
During routine naka checking at Battal, a scooty bearing registration number JK14J-5544, driven by Mohd Sharif S/O Mirza Khan R/O Dhamma, Majalta, was intercepted. Upon personal search, police recovered 5.69 grams of heroin from his possession. Consequently, a case FIR No. 84/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Majalta, and the accused has been arrested.
In another operation, during patrolling near Majalta Morh, the naka party stopped a person coming on foot, who was identified as Gafoor Ali S/O Mohd Sadiq R/O Damma, Tehsil Majalta, District Udhampur. Upon personal search, 5 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 85/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Majalta, and the accused has been taken into custody.
Further investigation in both cases is underway.
The police have reaffirmed their commitment to make Udhampur a drug-free district under the ongoing #DrugsFreeUdhampur campaign.
