In a major success against the drug menace, Udhampur Police apprehended an inter-state drug peddler during routine traffic checking at Naka Point Jakheni.

The accused has been identified as Shamim Hassan, son of Mohd Ali, resident of Gangltak, Diskit, Tehsil & District Leh. Upon his search, police recovered 6.61 grams of heroin from his possession.

The accused was arrested on the spot, and a case under FIR No. 351/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur. Further investigation is underway.
