Udhampur, Oct 1:
In a major success against narco-smuggling, Udhampur Police arrested an inter-state drug peddler and seized 19.79 kg of contraband poppy straw at Naka Point, Motor Shed NHW Chenani.
During routine checking, a white Honda Amaze taxi (No. UP65FT-6902) was intercepted by the PS Chenani police team led by the SHO. On inspection, a sky-blue suitcase and a dark-blue bag belonging to passenger Kuldeep Singh, son of Surjit Singh, resident of Lattianwal, District Kapurthala, Punjab, were recovered from the vehicle’s trunk.
Both bags were found to contain poppy straw weighing 19.79 kg. A case under FIR No. 95/2025, Sections 8/15 NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Chenani, and further investigation is in progress.
