Empowering Poor Girls: Scholarship Schemes Open New Doors in Jammu & Kashmir
Jammu & Kashmir, October 2025:
A series of scholarship schemes are opening new avenues for poor and meritorious girls across Jammu and Kashmir, providing them with financial support to pursue higher education and professional careers.

The Pradhan Mantri Ucchatar Shiksha Protsahan Yojana (PM-USP/SSSJKL) continues to be a flagship initiative, covering tuition fees and providing maintenance allowances for students from J&K and Ladakh. Similarly, the AICTE Pragati Scholarship offers ₹50,000 per year to girls enrolled in technical and professional courses in AICTE-approved institutions.

Applications for the Pragati Scholarship 2025 remain open until October 31, 2025, through the National Scholarship Portal, while registrations for the PM-USP/SSSJKL scheme are also active for the 2025–26 academic year on the AICTE J&K portal. Both schemes require students to upload necessary documents, complete online verification, and undergo scrutiny at designated facilitation centers before funds are disbursed directly into their bank accounts.

Officials emphasize that these programs are designed to reduce dropout rates and empower girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. By covering tuition, living expenses, and providing renewal support throughout the course duration, the scholarships aim to ensure that poverty is no longer a barrier to education.

With timely awareness campaigns and smooth online processing, these scholarships are expected to transform aspirations into achievements for thousands of young girls in Jammu and Kashmir.
