Udhampur, October 05:
In a continued effort to curb the drug menace, Udhampur Police apprehended a drug peddler during routine naka checking at Tikri. The police team from PP Tikri noticed a person moving on foot from Manthal side towards Udhampur, who on seeing the police party, attempted to flee but was swiftly intercepted.
The accused has been identified as Waseem Akram, son of Mohd. Saleem, resident of Rahi Mohalla, Kawa, Tehsil & District Udhampur. Upon personal search, 5.17 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
In this connection, FIR No. 157/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal, and investigation into the case is underway.
