Budgam, October 23, 2025:
In a major success against the drug menace, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in the Soibugh area.
A police team from Police Post Soibugh, led by ASI Nazir Ahmad, established a checkpoint at Warpora/Galwanpora Crossing and intercepted a passenger auto (JK01Q-7851). During checking, charas-like substances in grinded form weighing about 376 grams and another 27 grams in a disposable bag were recovered from the vehicle.
The accused, identified as Hilal Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Chodrybagh Sebdan, was arrested on the spot. The vehicle used in the crime was also seized.
A case under FIR No. 295/2025, registered under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Budgam, has been initiated, and further investigation is underway.
