Chief Electoral Officer J&K Interacts with Representatives of Recognized Political Parties Ahead of Bye-Elections
Jammu, October 8, 2025:
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Sanjeev Verma, IAS, today held an important interaction with the representatives of recognized political parties in the Union Territory regarding the upcoming Bye-elections for 27-Budgam and 77-Nagrota Assembly Constituencies.
During the meeting, the CEO briefed the representatives about the arrangements and preparedness made by the Election Department for the smooth and transparent conduct of the bye-elections in both constituencies.

He also sought suggestions and feedback from political representatives to further streamline the electoral process and ensure greater participation of voters.

The discussions covered several key aspects, including:

Deployment of polling personnel and security arrangements.

Strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Ensuring accessibility and facilities at polling stations, including provisions for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Voter awareness initiatives under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) programme.

Mechanisms for real-time monitoring and redressal of grievances during the election process.


Shri Sanjeev Verma reiterated the commitment of the Election Department to conduct the bye-elections in a free, fair, impartial, and transparent manner as per the law. He also urged all political parties to extend full cooperation in upholding the integrity of the democratic process.
