Budgam Police Destroys Seized Narcotic Substances Worth ₹41 Lakhs
Budgam, October 18, 2025:
In a significant step towards eradicating drug abuse, Budgam Police conducted a large-scale disposal drive of seized narcotic substances under the supervision of the District Level Drug Disposal Committee.

The destruction was carried out as per the directions of the Hon’ble Addl. Sessions Judge Budgam/Munsiff (JMIC) Budgam and Addl. Munsiff (JMIC) Srinagar, in the presence of officials from the Pollution Control Board Budgam, Naib Tehsildar Budgam, Budgam Police, and ANTF/CID/CI.

Following Section 52-A of the NDPS Act, the contraband was destroyed at Kashmir Healthcare System Bio-Medical Waste Unit, IGC Lasipora Pulwama, in adherence to all legal and environmental norms.

The seized substances, recovered from nine NDPS cases registered across different police stations in the district, included 38.5 kg of poppy straw, 21.66 kg of charas powder, 418 grams of ganja, and 80 grams of charas, collectively valued at approximately ₹41 lakhs.

Budgam Police reiterated its strong commitment to making the district drug-free and urged the public to cooperate by reporting any drug-related activities to the nearest police station.
