Budgam, October 09, 2025:
Budgam Police, under the supervision of SSP Budgam Shri Nikhil Borkar (IPS), organized a Cyber Awareness Program at Townhall Budgam to raise awareness about emerging cyber threats and promote digital safety among stakeholders.
The event witnessed the participation of DySP Headquarters Budgam Shri Sajad Ahmad (JKPS), SHO Cyber Police Station Budgam, officials from J&K Bank, telecom service providers, and the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Experts and police officials delivered informative sessions on online financial frauds, phishing, SIM-swap scams, detection of mule accounts, and best practices for secure digital conduct. Discussions also focused on cyber hygiene, robust KYC protocols, and improving coordination among institutions and the public.
Attendees were encouraged to become Cyber Ambassadors in their communities and were informed about reporting mechanisms through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and the helpline number 1930.
The program aimed to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement, financial institutions, telecom companies, government agencies, and citizens to build a safer and more resilient digital environment in Budgam.
