Budgam, October 02, 2025:
In a major success against the drug menace, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler in Chadoora and recovered heroin-like substance from his possession. The vehicle used in the crime was also seized.
A police party from Police Station Chadoora, led by PSI Goverdhan Singh, had established a checkpoint at Durbugh Crossing. During checking, a suspicious Mahindra Thar (Reg. No. DL4CNA7913) was intercepted. The driver attempted to flee but was apprehended. Upon search, contraband was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Nath, son of Mohammad Ismail Nath, resident of Parnew, Wazir Bagh, Budgam. He was arrested on the spot, and an FIR No. 175/2025 under Section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora.
Police have started further investigation into the case.
Budgam Police has urged the public to extend full cooperation in the fight against drugs and reaffirmed its commitment to act strictly against drug peddlers.
