Kathua, Sept 16: In a major action against drug menace, Kathua Police recovered 5.47 grams of heroin (chitta) like substance and arrested two drug peddlers near Railway Road, Hiranagar.
On September 15, a police team of Police Station Hiranagar led by Insp. Ashish Sharma, under the supervision of SP Ops Kathua Sh. Mukund Tibrewal (IPS) and SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Katoch, had laid a routine naka to check suspicious activities. During checking, two persons moving under suspicious circumstances were stopped and identified as Abhinandan Singh S/o Jagdev Singh and Amit Sangra S/o Raj Kumar, both residents of Kootah, Tehsil Hiranagar.
Upon personal search, 5.47 grams of heroin (chitta) like substance was recovered from their possession. A case FIR No. 131/2025 under sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Hiranagar. The accused were taken into custody, and the contraband seized as per law.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source and supply network.
