Kathua Police Nab Two Drug Peddlers, Recover 67.30 Grams of Heroin-like Substance
Kathua, September 22:
In a major success against drug trafficking, Kathua Police arrested two drug peddlers and seized a total of 67.30 grams of heroin-like substance during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Station Lakhanpur.

Acting on reliable inputs, police teams of PS Lakhanpur, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena, IPS, laid special checkpoints at various locations on September 21. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak, JKPS; DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Ritesh Sambyal; and SHO PS Lakhanpur Sh. Tariq Ahmed.

In the first incident, a police team at village Maroli intercepted Barkat Ali S/o Juma Butt R/o Backan Bani A/P Maroli, Tehsil & District Kathua, and recovered 6.28 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.

In another incident near link road Jagatpur, police apprehended Surmu Din S/o Imam Din R/o Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur, and recovered 61.02 grams of heroin-like substance.

Police have registered Case FIR No. 111/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act and FIR No. 112/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act against the accused. Both have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.

The Kathua Police reaffirmed their commitment to continue the crackdown on drug smuggling and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information about such illegal activities.
