Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reacted to the upcoming India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup. He said, “Our problem has always been with bilateral matches; we never had issues with multilateral tournaments. This game is also a part of a tournament. If it helps things move in a positive direction, nothing could be better.”
Omar Abdullah further stated that sports often become a victim of politics, and nowhere is this more evident than in cricket in the subcontinent. He added that his region has directly suffered from terrorism for the last 30–35 years, and such realities cannot simply be ignored.
👉 This statement is being seen as an attempt to strike a balance between sports and politics.
