Udhampur, September 26:
Udhampur Police achieved a major success by arresting an inter-state drug peddler in Majalta and recovering 6.100 kilograms of poppy straw.
A police team from Police Station Majalta, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB65AX-7075 during routine traffic checking at Battal Chowk. On thorough inspection, a white plastic bag containing poppy straw was recovered from the cabin of the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Kulvinderpal Singh, son of Ranjodh Singh, resident of Subhash Nagar, Mohali, Punjab, was arrested on the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 77/2025 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Majalta. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Police authorities reiterated their commitment to intensify the ongoing drive against drug peddling to ensure a drug-free Udhampur.
