Drug Peddler Arrested in Billawar; 5.34 Grams of Heroin-Like Substance Recovered
Kathua, September 23:
In a sustained crackdown against drug trafficking, Kathua Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 5.34 grams of heroin-like (chitta) substance from his possession at Dingi Simbli, Mandli Road, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Billawar.

Acting on specific inputs, a naka was laid by a team of Police Station Billawar led by SHO Insp. Zaheer Mushtaq, under the supervision of SP Upper Kathua Sh. Aumir Iqbal and SDPO Billawar Sh. Neeraj Padyar, and overall guidance of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS).

During the naka checking, one suspicious person attempted to flee on seeing the police party. However, the alert team chased and apprehended him. He was identified as Liyaqat Ali, son of Sheeru, resident of Sultanpur, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua. Upon personal search, police recovered 5.34 grams of heroin-like substance along with a mobile phone from his possession.

In this connection, FIR No. 142/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Billawar. Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the drug supply chain in the area.
