Doda, September 17, 2025: District Police Doda has been ranked as the best-performing district in Jammu Zone for the recovery of lost and stolen mobile phones through the CEIR Portal, as per a report issued by the Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
Under the supervision of SSP Doda Sh. Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), the Cyber Police Station Doda, led by Insp. Surinder Veer and PSI Ankush Nagra (Nodal CEIR), successfully recovered 57 lost mobile phones worth approximately ₹8.87 lakh from various states and UTs. The team also retrieved defrauded money amounting to ₹8,00,835.
In a press conference at District Police Office Doda, SSP Mehta lauded the efforts of the Cyber Police team, assisted by the ESU unit led by PSI Sahil Kumar. He personally handed over the recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners, who expressed gratitude for the police’s dedicated efforts.
SSP Mehta urged citizens to safeguard their mobile phones, highlighting the risks of data misuse. He also advised the public to immediately report cybercrimes on the National Helpline 1930, register complaints at www.cybercrime.gov.in, and report lost/stolen phones at www.ceir.gov.in.
So far, Cyber Police Station Doda has successfully recovered ₹56.77 lakh of defrauded money and 276 mobile phones valued at ₹47.29 lakh.
