ADC Doda Chairs District Level NCORD Committee Meeting, Calls for Tough Action Against Drug Menace
Doda, Sept 26: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Doda, Sh. Anil Kumar Thakur today chaired the District Level NCORD Committee meeting at the VC Room, DC Office Complex Doda, under the guidance of the District Magistrate Doda.

The meeting was attended by ASP Doda Sh. Mohd Aslam, ACD Doda Sh. Din Mohd Afaqi, DSWO Sh. Tariq Qazi, CPO Sh. Kishore Kumar Bandral, Principal GDC Doda Dr. Javid Ahmed Zargar, officers from Agriculture and Forest Departments, representatives of ANTF, and NGOs.

During the meeting, the ADC emphasized strict implementation of the PITNDPS Act to deter drug traffickers, identification of hotspots, and enhanced police surveillance including CCTV installation near educational institutions. Principals were directed to ensure zero tolerance towards drug sale in institutions, while Tehsildars and BDOs were instructed to inspect schools, colleges and other sensitive locations. SDMs were asked to monitor inter-departmental field activities with photographic evidence.

The ADC also directed regular inspection of drug de-addiction centres, strict vigil on misuse of prescription drugs, mandatory computerized billing and 100% CCTV coverage in pharmacies. Departments were tasked with identifying and destroying wild cannabis and poppy crops, besides intensifying crackdown on illicit liquor manufacturing and sale.

He further stressed mobilization of religious leaders, NGOs, and civil society for mass IEC campaigns and directed schools and colleges to organize debates, seminars, rallies and cultural programmes to spread awareness among students. Monthly progress reports on NDPS cases will be sent to the Home Department J&K and Crime Branch, while ATRs from all departments are to be submitted before 20th of every month.

Departments were asked to declare more “Nasha Mukt Panchayats” through grassroots campaigns, with special focus on engaging youth in sports, cultural activities and talent promotion. The Health and Social Welfare Departments were instructed to intensify counselling and rehabilitation measures, while awareness camps will also be conducted in remote rural areas to ensure every household is covered.
