Udhampur Police Arrests Third Accused in Major NDPS Case

Udhampur, August 20, 2025:

In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Udhampur Police has arrested another accused in a commercial quantity NDPS case (FIR No. 163/2024) registered at Police Station Chenani under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act.

The accused has been identified as Tanzeer, son of Mohd. Sayeed Majar, resident of Sudhpora, Karnah, District Kupwara. He was apprehended after investigators established a backward link on the basis of technical, financial, and oral evidence. Tanzeer is the third accused arrested in this case.

Police confirmed that the accused is a habitual offender and has been involved in earlier NDPS cases as well:

1. FIR No. 94/2021 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Karnah, Kupwara.

2. FIR No. 03/2025 U/S 8/21/29 NDPS Act of PS Parimpora.

With this arrest, Udhampur Police has reiterated its commitment to making the district drug-free by not only nabbing peddlers but also dismantling the wider supply networks to break the entire chain of narcotics trade.

The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of senior police authorities of Udhampur-Reasi Range, with support from JKP Media Centre, PHQ J&K Police, and Zonal Police Media Centre Jammu.
