Samba Police Foil Two Bovine Smuggling Attempts; Arrest 2 Smugglers, Rescue 16 Bovines
Samba, August 16, 2025: Samba Police, continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, foiled two separate smuggling attempts in the jurisdictions of Police Stations Samba and Ghagwal. In the operations, two bovine smugglers were arrested, 16 bovines were rescued, and the vehicles used for illegal transportation were seized.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Police Station Samba intercepted a Swift Dezire car (Registration No. JK02AV-2142) at Sambyal Chowk. During checking, one bovine was found tied in a cruel manner inside the vehicle, being transported illegally without valid permission. The accused were identified as Anwar Ali, son of Anyat Ali, resident of Dawara, Jammu, and Irfan Ali, son of Mohd Hanief, resident of Thathar, Jammu. Both were arrested, and the vehicle was seized. A case under FIR No. 217/2025 U/S 303(2)/299/223/3(5) BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba.

In another incident, a police team from Police Station Ghagwal, while conducting vehicle checking at Naka NHW Tapyal, intercepted a truck without a registration number. Upon inspection, 15 bovines were found tied in a cruel manner and being transported illegally. All bovines were rescued, and the truck was seized. A case under FIR No. 83/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal for further investigation.
