Shopian, August 19:
In a significant action against the menace of drug trafficking, Shopian Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from his possession.
According to police sources, a special naka (checkpoint) was laid at a strategic location in Shopian following credible information about the movement of drug smugglers. During checking, one suspect was intercepted, and upon search, contraband substances were recovered from him.
The accused has been taken into custody, and a case under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station. Further investigation is underway to identify and nab his associates involved in the illicit trade.
Police have reiterated their commitment to curbing the drug menace in the district and urged the public to cooperate by sharing timely information about such unlawful activities.
