Continuous Heavy Rainfall Forces Closure of Schools Across Jammu Division Till August 30
Jammu, August 28: The Directorate of School Education, Jammu, has ordered the closure of all government and private schools across Jammu Division until 30th August 2025 due to continuous heavy rainfall and worsening weather conditions. The decision has been taken in the interest of student safety and to ensure the well-being of staff and teachers amid the prevailing situation.

According to the order issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director of School Education Jammu, reports from various districts highlighted multiple disruptions caused by incessant rainfall.

Key Concerns Reported:

1. Severe waterlogging and mud accumulation in school premises, making them unfit for physical classes.

2. Flooding in low-lying areas, restricting student access to schools.

3. Heightened risks of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in hilly and mountainous regions, posing serious safety threats to both students and staff.

4. Damage to road infrastructure, including blocked and eroded roads, which has made travel unsafe.

Orders Issued:

All schools in Jammu Division will remain closed until 30th August 2025.

Heads of Institutions (HoIs) have been advised to explore the feasibility of conducting online classes for students of Classes 9 to 12, wherever internet connectivity allows.

Chief Education Officers (CEOs) and HoIs must ensure strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for safe reopening once weather conditions improve.

Parents and students are urged to stay updated through official communication channels regarding further directions.

School authorities are required to conduct thorough cleaning, sanitation, and safety inspections of buildings and premises before reopening.

CEOs and HoIs have been directed to consult local administration prior to resuming physical classes.

The Directorate further stated that the situation is being continuously monitored and additional directions will be issued depending on evolving weather and ground conditions.

This order has come into immediate effect and will remain valid until 30th August 2025.
