Bootlegger Arrested with 56 Quarters of Illicit Liquor in Kathua
Kathua, August 19:
Continuing its drive against the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, Kathua Police arrested a bootlegger and recovered 56 quarters of JK Special Whisky (180 ml each) from his possession in the jurisdiction of Outpost Ghatti, Police Station Kathua.

Acting on a specific tip-off regarding the sale of illicit liquor, a police party led by PSI Rajat Kotwal, Incharge Outpost Ghatti, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua Ravinder Singh and SHO PS Kathua Inspector Sandeep Chib, intercepted a suspect moving suspiciously on Ghatti-Nanan road near Kalana.

The individual was identified as Rahul Sharma, son of Joginder Lal, resident of Pandrar, Tehsil and District Kathua. On checking the plastic bag he was carrying, police recovered 56 quarters of JK Special Whisky.

As he was transporting liquor without valid permission or license, his act was found to be in violation of the Excise Act. Accordingly, an FIR No. 405/2025 U/S 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
