Annual Machail Yatra 2025: Pavitra Charri of Shree Chandi Maa Departs for Machail Shrine
Kishtwar, August 19, 2025:
The annual Machail Yatra, one of the most revered spiritual journeys in Jammu & Kashmir, entered a significant phase today as the Pavitra Charri (Holy Mace) of Shree Chandi Mata commenced its onward journey towards the sacred shrine at Machail Village, Block Paddar.
On the second day of the Yatra, the Holy Mace began its procession from Shri Gauri Shankar Mandir, Sarkoot, Kishtwar, where it had stayed overnight, and set forth towards the divine abode of Mata Machail.

This year, the Yatra is being conducted in a simple and solemn manner, with limited vehicles escorting the Holy Mace under tight security arrangements, owing to the recent cloudburst incident of August 14 in the region. Authorities have taken precautionary measures to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the pilgrimage.
The Yatra is following its traditional route, with scheduled halts at Atholi, Massu, and Chasoti, where devotees gather to offer prayers and seek blessings. Despite the challenges, the spiritual fervor and devotion among the pilgrims remain unshaken, as they continue to accompany the Pavitra Charri with chants and prayers.

According to the schedule, the Pavitra Charri is expected to reach the holy Machail shrine on August 22, 2025, where grand religious rituals will be performed. The return journey of the Holy Mace will commence on August 24, 2025, marking the conclusion of this year’s sacred pilgrimage.

The Machail Yatra, dedicated to Shree Chandi Mata, holds immense religious significance for devotees from across the country, who participate with deep faith, believing the pilgrimage brings divine blessings, protection, and prosperity.
