Udhampur, May 14: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Udhampur Police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered a consignment of heroin-like substance during routine patrolling.
The incident took place near Bansal Morh area when a Police team from Police Post Tikri, led by IC PP Tikri, was on patrol duty. A suspicious individual walking from Katra towards Tikri attempted to evade the police upon spotting them by turning back and trying to flee. The alert team apprehended him immediately.
The individual was identified as Arjun Singh, son of Ram Saran, resident of Panthal, Chamba, Tehsil Katra, District Udhampur. Upon frisking, the police recovered 4.44 grams of heroin-like contraband from his possession.
The accused was arrested on the spot, and a case under FIR No. 64/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal. Further investigation into the case is underway.
The swift action by the Udhampur Police reflects their continued commitment to curbing the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
