Anantnag, May 14, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, District Police Anantnag has arrested four individuals in separate operations and recovered heroin-like substances from their possession.
In the first case, a notorious female drug peddler, identified as Khushbu Jan, daughter of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and a resident of Bangidar, was apprehended near Bangidar Bridge. Police recovered 07 grams of heroin-like substance from her possession. A case under FIR No. 100/2025 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag and further investigation is underway.
In another operation, two individuals—Nargis, wife of Mohammad Ali from Bawana JJ Colony, Delhi, and Mohammad Irfan, son of Mohammad Jehangir Khan from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh—were caught with 03 grams and 06 grams of heroin-like substances respectively. The case has been registered under FIR No. 104/2025 at PS Anantnag under the NDPS Act, and investigations are ongoing.
In a separate case, Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam, son of Gul Mohammad Hajam and resident of Saidwara, Dooru Shahabad, was arrested with 06 grams of heroin-like substance. A case FIR No. 105/2025 under the same NDPS Act has been filed at PS Anantnag.
District Police Anantnag has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and has urged the public to report any information related to drug abuse or peddling in their localities. Authorities emphasized the importance of community support in creating a drug-free society.
