Rajouri, May 10: In a tragic incident, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, a senior officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) and Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri, lost his life today due to shelling by Pakistan along the Line of Control.
The cross-border shelling, which occurred in a forward sector of the Rajouri district, claimed the life of the dedicated officer while he was performing his official duties. Dr. Thapa's untimely demise has sent shockwaves across the administrative and civil society in Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the incident, offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. "Paid my heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, JKAS, ADDC Rajouri who lost his life in the line of duty today due to shelling by Pakistan. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The Government stands firmly with his family in this hour of grief," the Chief Minister said in a statement.
The government has assured all possible support to the family of the martyred officer, acknowledging his unwavering commitment to public service even in the face of grave danger.
Security forces have been put on high alert in the region following the incident.
