Jammu | April 4, 2025:In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu Police arrested two drug peddlers and seized 27.77 grams of heroin-like substance during a naka checking operation under the jurisdiction of Police Station R.S Pura.
The operation was conducted on April 3, 2025, by a police team led by ASI Ashok Kumar. During routine patrolling, the team had established a naka near Public Resort, Chohala. At around 6:30 PM, an Alto car (bearing registration number JK02AH-1456) coming from Chak Aslam towards R.S Pura tried to avoid the checkpoint.
However, the alert police personnel swiftly intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the two occupants, later identified as:
Dheeraj Choudhary alias Janu, S/o Janak Raj
Shubham Kumar, S/o Ghara Ram
(Both residents of Chohala Kothey, Tehsil R.S Pura, District Jammu)
Upon searching the individuals, the police recovered 17.10 grams of heroin from Dheeraj Choudhary and 10.67 grams from Shubham Kumar, making a total recovery of 27.77 grams.
A case under FIR No. 60/2025 has been registered at Police Station R.S Pura under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/21/22/29/60). Further investigation is underway.
This successful operation was carried out under the leadership of SHO R.S Pura Inspector Sh. R S Parihar, and under the close supervision of SDPO R.S Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
The Jammu Police reaffirmed their firm stance against drug trafficking and reiterated their commitment to making the region drug-free. Citizens have been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activities, reinforcing the need for community cooperation in tackling the drug menace.
Police authorities also assured that intensified operations will continue in the coming days to safeguard the community, especially the youth, from the threats posed by drug abuse.
