Jammu, April 13, 2025 — In a major breakthrough against criminal activities, Jammu Police has successfully busted a gang involved in multiple high-value thefts across the Nagrota Sub-Division. Acting under the guidance of SSP Jammu, Sh. Joginder Singh (JKPS), the police teams have recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹81 lakhs, bringing significant relief to affected areas.
The stolen items include mobile tower radio units, electric wires, and gold ornaments, targeted primarily in the jurisdictions of Police Stations Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli.
Mobile Tower Theft Case
In a notable case, the Jhajjar Kotli Police apprehended four suspects in FIR No. 46/2025 U/S 303(2) PS Jhajjar Kotli, following a detailed operation that combined technical surveillance with human intelligence. The accused confessed to the theft of 23 mobile tower radio units (RUS 01 BO), each valued at ₹2.5–2.7 lakh, totaling a recovery of approximately ₹61 lakhs.
Arrested Accused:
1. Basant Kumar, S/o Ramesh Kumar (Bamyal, Nagrota)
2. Ranjeet Singh, S/o Madan Singh (Chapanu, Reasi)
3. Devi Chand, S/o Prem Chand (Kunkanyalam, Reasi)
4. Jatinder, S/o Kachedu (Kailawada Kalan, Muzaffarnagar, U.P.)
This bust also helped solve two additional theft cases, one each from PS Nagrota and PS Jhajjar Kotli.
Gold Theft Cases
Gold thefts reported at PS Nagrota and PS Jhajjar Kotli were also resolved, with recovery of ornaments worth ₹11 lakhs.
Arrested in PS Nagrota Case:
Sartaz Ahmed alias Kaka, S/o Mohd Shafi (Asrarabad, Sidhra) – currently on bail.
Arrest is pending in the Jhajjar Kotli gold theft case.
Wire Theft Incidents
1. LTAB Cable Theft – PS Nagrota
Recovery Value: ₹7 lakh
2. General Wire Theft – PP Sidhra
Recovery Value: ₹2 lakh
Five individuals have been arrested in these cases, all currently on bail.
Total Recovery: ₹81 Lakhs
Thanks to the effective coordination between SDPO Nagrota, SP Rural Jammu, SHO Nagrota, SHO Jhajjar Kotli, IC PP Manwal, and IC PP Sidhra, Jammu Police has not only cracked several pending theft cases but also dismantled a gang operating across key areas of the sub-division.
The action has earned public praise and reinforced the commitment of Jammu Police to protect public property and maintain law and order. Investigations remain ongoing, with further arrests and recoveries expected.
