Citizens Take Pledge to Support Police in Fight Against Drug Abuse
Jammu, April 11, 2025:
As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a significant anti-drug awareness programme titled “No to Drugs, Yes to Life” was held today at Megh Sabha Samaz, Ward No. 4, R.S. Pura. The event commenced at 12:15 PM and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, civil society members, and government officials.
The programme saw the presence of several dignitaries including Tehsildar R.S. Pura, Naib Tehsildar R.S. Pura, SHO Police Station R.S. Pura, President Megh Mandal Samaz Sh. Gharu Ram Uttar, Senior Lecturer Sh. Sohan Singh Chib, Dr. Ekta Sudan, and President of the Bazar Association, Sh. Sachin Chopra. Approximately 80 to 90 individuals, including many senior citizens, attended the event and actively engaged in the discussions.
Speakers at the event stressed the growing threat of drug abuse and the urgent need for a united community response. They called upon families, educational institutions, and law enforcement agencies to work in coordination to identify and eliminate the roots of substance abuse. The speakers also highlighted the importance of early intervention, awareness, and social responsibility in combating this menace.
A major highlight of the event was the pledge ceremony, where all attendees vowed to stay away from drugs and pledged their full support to the police and administration in eliminating drug abuse from society. The collective pledge reflected a strong community resolve to uphold the ideals of a drug-free society.
The Jammu Police, in collaboration with civil society and local administration, reaffirmed their commitment to continue such awareness drives, especially in vulnerable areas. The campaign aims to build a resilient and informed community that actively participates in creating a healthier and safer environment.
