Udhampur, March 9: In a major crackdown on illegal cattle transportation, Udhampur Police successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued four bovines.
During a routine vehicle-checking operation, a police team from Police Station Udhampur intercepted a Mahindra Load Carrier (Registration No. JK02DA-8994) for inspection. Sensing police presence, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot.
Upon inspection, the police discovered four bovines cruelly tied inside the vehicle, being illegally transported towards Kashmir Valley without valid permission. The rescued animals have been shifted to a safer location.
A case under FIR No. 66/2025, registered under Section 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act, has been lodged at Police Station Udhampur, and further investigation is underway.
