Udhampur Police Foil Bovine Smuggling Attempts, Rescue 12 Bovines
Udhampur, March 1: In a determined effort to curb illegal bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police successfully foiled two separate smuggling attempts, rescuing a total of 12 bovines.

First Incident – Chenani Police Intercept Vehicle, Rescue 4 Bovines

A police team from Police Station Chenani, while conducting naka checking, intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle (JK14K-1765). Upon inspection, officers discovered four bovines cruelly tied and being transported illegally without valid permission.

The driver, identified as Khursheed Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Maitra, Ramban, was arrested on the spot. The rescued bovines were shifted to a safer location.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 22/2025 at Police Station Chenani, and further investigation is underway.

Second Incident – Udhampur Police Rescue 8 Bovines, Driver Escapes

In another operation, during routine naka checking near Police Post Roundomail, a police team from Police Station Udhampur intercepted a suspicious Tata Yodha vehicle (JK19A/5934) coming from Manwal towards Udhampur.

Sensing police presence, the driver abandoned the vehicle on the road and fled the scene. Upon inspection, eight bovines were found cruelly tied and being transported illegally without valid documents.

All the rescued bovines were shifted to a safer location. Case FIR No. 61/2025 has been registered under Section 223(a) BNS and 11 PCA Act at Police Station Udhampur. Further investigation is ongoing to track down the accused.

Udhampur Police remain committed to preventing illegal smuggling activities and ensuring strict action against those involved.
