Kathua, March 14: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), have apprehended two hardcore drug peddlers and booked them under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988. The accused have been lodged in District Jails of Rajouri and Poonch.
In the first case, a police team led by SHO Police Station Kathua and IC PP Nagri, under the guidance of Addl SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS) and DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh, arrested Parveen Kumar, son of Prem Chand, resident of Chak Drab Khan, Kathua. He was a habitual drug peddler involved in multiple NDPS cases, including:

To curb his illegal drug activities, a dossier was prepared, and the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu issued a detention warrant under the PIT-NDPS Act. The warrant was executed, and the accused was shifted to District Jail Rajouri.
In the second case, a police team led by SHO Police Station Hiranagar, under the supervision of SDPO Border Kathua, apprehended another notorious drug peddler, Narinder Singh alias Nannu, son of Sagar Singh, resident of Diyalachak, Hiranagar. He was involved in multiple NDPS cases, including:

Following the preparation of his dossier, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu issued a detention warrant under the PIT-NDPS Act. The warrant was executed, and the accused was lodged in District Jail Poonch to prevent further drug trafficking activities.
This anti-drug initiative by Kathua Police has been widely appreciated by the local residents, who have lauded the authorities for their firm action against drug peddlers and their efforts to safeguard the youth from the menace of narcotics.
