Jammu | March 25, 2025: In a major breakthrough against illegal mining, Jammu Police, South Zone, has seized two excavators (poclain machines) involved in unauthorized mineral extraction from the River Tawi under “Operation Ploughing.” The operation was carried out by the Police Post (PP) Belicharana under the close supervision of senior officers.
Acting on the directives of SSP Jammu and under the guidance of SP City South and SDPO South, the police team swiftly intercepted the excavators during their illegal activities. Upon investigation, it was found that the machines were operating without valid authorization, posing a severe threat to the river ecosystem and leading to the depletion of natural resources. The District Mineral Officer (DMO) Jammu has been notified, and necessary legal proceedings are underway.
Jammu Police remains firm in its zero-tolerance stance against illegal mining, emphasizing the protection of the environment and natural resources. Through such stringent actions, law enforcement aims to curb ecological damage and ensure strict accountability for violators.
