Jammu, March 8, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir government’s Budget 2025 did not include any concrete decision regarding daily wagers, Village Defense Committee (VDC) SPOs, and other temporary employees. This has deeply disappointed thousands of workers who have been demanding regularization and salary hikes for many years.
Hopes of Daily Wagers Dashed
Daily wagers who have been working in various government departments for the past 20-25 years had hoped that this budget would bring some relief for them. However, the government did not make any clear statement on this matter while presenting the budget. This has led to widespread frustration and resentment among daily wagers.
Daily wagers argue that they have been working in difficult conditions for years with low wages, yet the government is not paying attention to their plight. They had expected the government to announce the regularization of their services or a salary increase, but no such decision was made.
VDC SPOs Also Ignored
Similarly, the Village Defense Committee (VDC) SPOs, who have been playing a crucial role in maintaining security in Jammu and Kashmir for over 20 years, were also left out of the budget. The VDC SPOs have been consistently demanding permanent employment and salary hikes, but their concerns were ignored in this budget as well.
