Inter-District Drug Peddler Arrested in Chenani, 17.23 Grams of Heroin-Like Contraband Seized
Chenani, March 1, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Udhampur Police arrested an inter-district drug peddler and seized 17.23 grams of heroin-like contraband in the Chenani area.

A police team from Police Station Chenani, during routine naka checking at Motor Shed on NH-44, intercepted an Alto car (Registration No. JK02AJ-4043) traveling from Jammu to Srinagar at around 4:30 PM. Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered the contraband concealed in a transparent polythene bag.

The driver, identified as Imtiyaz Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, a resident of Sopore, Baramulla, was arrested on the spot. Both the vehicle and the recovered contraband were seized.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was actively involved in drug smuggling across multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

A case has been registered at Police Station Chenani under FIR No. 23/2025 as per Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.

Udhampur Police continues its dedicated efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure a drug-free society.
