Jammu, – Minister for Health and Medical Education, Miss Sakina Itoo (NC Noorabad), announced that healthcare facilities across the Union Territory are being rapidly upgraded to meet the growing needs of the local population.
Highlighting the developments in Jammu, she stated that an Urban Public Health Centre (UPHC) in Sainik Colony is now offering various healthcare services, supported by 13 healthcare professionals, including doctors and paramedics.
In addition to the UPHC, several other healthcare facilities are accessible within a 1-3 km radius, including NTPHC Channi Himmat, Sub-Centre Sainik Colony, and Sub-Centre Lower Chowadhi. For secondary and tertiary-level care, major hospitals such as Government Hospital Gandhinagar, Rajeev Gandhi Hospital Gangyal, and GMC Jammu with its associated hospitals are located within a 3-6 km distance.
Furthermore, private hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) – SEHAT scheme are providing medical treatment to eligible beneficiaries in Sainik Colony and Greater Kailash areas.
The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare services for all residents, with ongoing efforts to strengthen the medical infrastructure in the region.
