Anantnag, March 6, 2025 – In a significant public outreach initiative, Anantnag Police organized ‘Thana Diwas’ in Kokernag, aiming to raise awareness about the newly enacted criminal laws and address public grievances. The event witnessed the participation of DIG South Kashmir Range (SKR), Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo, and SSP Anantnag, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, along with senior police officials, including SP Headquarters Anantnag, Shri Sajad Ahmad; SP Operations Anantnag, Shri Furqan Qadir; ASP Anantnag (Camp Aishmuqam), Shri Gh Hassan; SDPOs, SHOs, and other officers from the district.

A large number of community members, local leaders, and stakeholders actively engaged in the session, demonstrating strong public participation. The primary focus of the event was to educate citizens on the major changes in the criminal justice system, their impact on policing, and legal proceedings. The officers also took the opportunity to address various grievances raised by the attendees.

Community Engagement & Legal Awareness

Speaking at the event, DIG SKR, Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo, emphasized the crucial role of community participation in law enforcement and stressed the importance of legal literacy. He highlighted that public awareness of the revised legal framework would empower citizens and enhance cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the public.

SSP Anantnag, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, reiterated the commitment of the Jammu & Kashmir Police to justice, transparency, and accountability. He assured that the police department is dedicated to keeping citizens informed about their rights and responsibilities under the new criminal laws.

The event also served as a platform for grievance redressal, where officers attentively listened to public concerns. DIG SKR and SSP Anantnag directed SDPOs and SHOs to take prompt action for resolving issues effectively, ensuring that law enforcement remains responsive to the needs of the people.
