Poonch, March 10: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal, today inaugurated the National Deworming Day drive in the district, aiming to improve the health and well-being of children by administering deworming medication. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Health Department and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), targets children aged 1 to 19 years to prevent parasitic infections.

Speaking at the event, DC Vikas Kundal emphasized the importance of deworming in ensuring children's physical and cognitive development. He urged parents, teachers, and health workers to actively participate in the campaign to achieve maximum coverage. The drive is being implemented across schools, Anganwadi centers, and healthcare facilities under the supervision of health officials.

The program aligns with the government’s commitment to eradicating intestinal worm infections and promoting better hygiene and nutrition among children. Senior officials from the District Health Society, ICDS, and Education Department were also present at the launch.

Authorities have encouraged community participation to ensure the success of the campaign, which is expected to significantly improve children's overall health in Poonch district.
