Kishtwar, March 5, 2025: In a bid to uphold transparency and accountability in rural development projects, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), conducted an inspection of MGNREGA and Rural Development Department (RDD) works in Panchayat Sallana of Block Drabshalla today.
During the visit, DC Kishtwar assessed the quality, progress, and compliance of various ongoing developmental works. The inspection follows a recent visit to Block Mughalmaidan, where two employees were suspended for falsifying attendance under MGNREGA. Taking a strict stance against such malpractices, the DC emphasized that any Mates or officials involved in fraudulent attendance marking will face immediate suspension or termination.
Upon reviewing the works at Drabshalla, three employees—Ayushi Sharma (VLW), Abdul Hamid (GRS), and Ravinder Kumar (GRS)—were found negligent in their duties. Consequently, the DC ordered their immediate suspension for dereliction of duty.
While interacting with field staff, DC Kishtwar directed all officials to maintain authentic attendance records and ensure strict adherence to MGNREGA guidelines. He reiterated that corruption and inefficiency will not be tolerated and that necessary disciplinary action will be taken against those violating norms.
Accompanying the DC during the visit was Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kishtwar, Sh. Phulail Singh (JKAS), who assured that regular monitoring mechanisms are being reinforced to maintain the integrity of MGNREGA and RDD projects in the district.
During his tour, DC Kishtwar visited several villages, including Bhadhat, Bugrana, Baroti, and Kulchandna— the last habitation on the axis. He also interacted with local delegations and listened to their grievances.
The visit highlights the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards irregularities and its commitment to ensuring efficient, corruption-free, and impactful rural development initiatives in Kishtwar district.
