Budgam, March 3, 2025: In an ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler in the Beerwah area and recovered contraband from his possession.
A police team from Police Station Beerwah, led by SI Ashiq Ahmad, had set up a checkpoint at Rankipora when they spotted a suspicious individual. Upon seeing the police, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended. During the search, officers recovered three sticks of a charas-like substance wrapped in corn husk from his possession.
The accused was identified as Mohammad Saleem Shah, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, a resident of Pati Sail Beerwah. He was arrested on the spot, and a case under FIR No. 24/2025 U/S 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Beerwah. Further investigation is underway.
