Jammu and Kashmir is set to witness a major transformation in public transport with the arrival of 200 new electric buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired the first meeting of the Union Territory Level Steering Committee (UTLSC) to oversee the implementation of the project.
The e-buses will operate on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with central assistance. The estimated operational cost over the next 10 years is ₹628 crore for Jammu and ₹686 crore for Srinagar. This initiative aims to promote eco-friendly, cost-effective, and modern transport solutions in the region.
