Udhampur, February 8: Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Udhampur Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered a heroin-like substance from their possession in the Rehambal area.
A police team from PS Rehambal, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), was conducting routine vehicle checking at a naka point when they noticed two suspicious individuals approaching from Jammu towards Udhampur on foot. On spotting the police team, the duo attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended.
The accused have been identified as Sumit Suri, son of Roshan Lal Suri, a resident of MH Road, Udhampur, and Sahil Bhat, son of Nishat Ullah, a resident of Gangera, Udhampur. During a thorough frisking, the police recovered 4.30 grams of a heroin-like substance from their possession.
A case has been registered at PS Rehambal under FIR No. 21/2025, and further investigation is underway.
Udhampur Police has reiterated its commitment to making the district drug-free and has urged citizens to support their efforts by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
