Jammu, February 11, 2025: In its relentless efforts to curb drug trafficking and dismantle the illegal narcotics network, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have achieved another success. The Nowabad Police Station team apprehended two drug peddlers and seized approximately 41.64 grams of heroin (chitta) from their possession.
Acting on a well-planned strategy, the Nowabad Police, while conducting routine patrolling, set up a checkpoint (naka) at Niki Tawi near T-Chowk 4th Bridge for vehicle checking. During the operation, the police noticed two individuals walking from Niki Tawi towards T-Point near the 4th Tawi Bridge. Upon spotting the police team, the duo attempted to conceal their presence and changed their course, raising suspicion.
Sensing something unusual, the police team immediately apprehended them for questioning. Upon conducting a personal search, officers recovered 41.64 grams of heroin (commonly known as chitta) from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
1. Manat Ali, son of Rashid Ahmad, resident of Chagani Ranjan, Tehsil Bhalwal, Jammu.
2. Vijay Kumar, son of Tara Chand, resident of Chagani Ranjan, Tehsil Bhalwal, Jammu.
Following the recovery, an FIR (No. 18/25) under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Nowabad Police Station.
The operation was successfully executed under the leadership of PSI Darshan Singh, who led the arrest and seizure process. The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Deepak Pathania (SHO Nowabad Police Station), Ms. Farha Nishat (Deputy SP Headquarters), and Mr. Vivek Shekhar (SP City North, Jammu).
The Jammu and Kashmir Police continue their stringent crackdown on drug-related activities, ensuring that strict action is taken against individuals involved in drug trafficking. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate and report any suspicious activities to help eliminate the drug menace from society.
