Three Notorious Drug Peddlers Arrested in Reasi, 9.81 Grams of Heroin Seized
Reasi, February 26: In a significant crackdown on drug abuse under Operation Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh, Reasi Police apprehended three notorious drug peddlers and seized 9.81 grams of heroin during a surprise naka checking.

A police team from Police Station Katra intercepted an auto-rickshaw (JK14D-6064) traveling from Kakryal to Katra town during routine checking at Nangal Katra. Upon frisking, the driver, identified as Vinod Kumar (S/O Madan Lal, R/O Paroh, Arli Katra), was found in possession of 1.64 grams of heroin hidden in his left pocket.

Further frisking of two passengers in the auto led to additional recoveries:

Mumtaz Ahmed (S/O Basheer Ahmed, R/O Serwad, Katra) was found with 1.69 grams of heroin wrapped in pink-colored polythene in his right pocket.

Roshan Lal (S/O Kartar Chand, R/O Akhli Butan, Katra) was carrying 6.48 grams of heroin in his left pocket.


With a total recovery of 9.81 grams of heroin, a case (FIR No. 50/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act) has been registered at Police Station Katra. Further investigations are underway to uncover the entire drug supply chain.

The operation was successfully conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra, Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the supervision of SDPO Katra Sh. Bhisham Dubey-JKPS and SP Katra Sh. Vipan Chandran-JKPS.

SSP Reasi, Sh. Paramvir Singh, JKPS, emphasized that Reasi Police is adopting a multi-pronged strategy to combat drug abuse. In addition to strict action against drug peddlers, awareness programs are being conducted across the district. Sending a stern warning, SSP Reasi reiterated that drug peddlers have no place in the district. He urged them to abandon this illegal trade and return to the mainstream, or else face strict legal consequences.
