Thief Arrested, Stolen Items Recovered by Janipur Police
Jammu, 15 February 2025: In a swift action, Janipur Police have arrested a thief and recovered stolen items following a complaint filed by a local resident.

On 13 February 2025, Sushma Devi, wife of Subash Singh Manhas, lodged a written complaint at Janipur Police Station regarding a theft at her residence. Acting on the complaint, an FIR (No. 20/2025) under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered, and the case was assigned to ASI Mohi Din for investigation.

Using a combination of human and technical intelligence, the police apprehended the accused, identified as Ketan Singh, son of Gulab Singh, a resident of Dhok Paloura, Jammu. The stolen items were recovered from his possession. The accused is now being subjected to sustained interrogation to determine his involvement in any previous thefts. Additionally, other police stations within the JKS Range have been notified, allowing them to take his custody if he is wanted in any other case.

Amid the rising incidents of theft in Jammu, the Sub-Division West Police have initiated awareness programs, urging residents to employ security guards (Chowkidars) in their neighborhoods and avoid storing valuables like gold at home. The public has been advised to utilize bank locker facilities for safeguarding their precious belongings.

Furthermore, both SHOs of Sub-Division West have intensified night surveillance to crack down on miscreants and prevent further thefts.
