Samba, February 21: Samba Police successfully solved a theft case registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana, apprehending four accused and recovering stolen items worth approximately ₹7 lakh.
According to reports, on February 15, 2025, a written complaint was lodged by Ganesh Kumar Sharma, son of Puran Chand, a resident of Palli, Bari Brahmana, district Samba. He reported the theft of all his gold and silver ornaments from his house.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, Police Station Bari Brahmana registered an FIR No. 27/2025 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. A police team, led by the SHO of Bari Brahmana Police Station, under the supervision of ASP SDPO Bari Brahmana and overall supervision of SSP Samba, worked diligently using technical aids to track down the culprits.
After intensive efforts, police rounded up three suspects who, upon sustained questioning, confessed to their involvement in the theft. The accused were identified as Rajneesh Sharma, son of Ranjeev Sharma; Goutam Sharma, son of Ashok Kumar—both residents of Palli, Bari Brahmana—along with one other accomplice.
Further investigation revealed that the stolen ornaments were sold to a goldsmith, Aryan Vaid, son of Rajesh Vaid, a resident of Vijaypur. The police arrested the goldsmith as well for receiving the stolen property.
Based on the disclosures made by the accused, police recovered gold ornaments weighing 47.180 grams, silver ornaments weighing 230 grams, and cash amounting to ₹2,69,230, making a total recovery worth approximately ₹7 lakh.
The investigation is still ongoing, and more developments are expected in the case.
