Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Degree College Vijaypur Organizes Rally to Raise HIV-AIDS Awareness
Vijaypur, 25 February 2025: The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur, in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, the Department of Health & Medical Education, and the Higher Education Department of J&K Government, organized a rally to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The initiative aimed to educate the community, particularly the youth, on the importance of prevention, early detection, and reducing stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. The event was held under the able guidance of the college’s Principal, Dr. Vandana Verma.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Poonam Kundan, Convener of the Red Ribbon Club, who emphasized the significance of awareness and education in preventing the spread of HIV. "Our goal is to create an informed and compassionate society. By organizing this rally, we aim to break the silence and stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and encourage open discussions on prevention and treatment," she said.

The rally began from the college premises, with nearly 80 volunteers participating enthusiastically. Holding colorful banners and placards with messages of hope, prevention, and solidarity, the participants chanted slogans promoting awareness and fighting the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

The event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convener, Red Ribbon Club) and co-coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO). Faculty members present at the event included Prof. Anita Jamwal, Prof. Mamta Gupta, Prof. Manoj Heer, Prof. Sonia, Dr. Anjana, Prof. Pooja, Dr. Indu Koul, and Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal. Refreshments were distributed among all participants at the conclusion of the program.

The rally successfully spread awareness and reinforced the importance of collective efforts in combating HIV/AIDS through education and social responsibility.
